I have had so much fun creating shell images lately. I love the way the water, sand, and shells interact with each other in these compositions. This series began when I decided to take Oliver, my cocker spaniel, to the beach to enjoy the surf and I noticed that there was an extraordinary amount of hermit crabs out and about. It must have been their weekend for love because they were scattered all along the waters edge in pairs. Their bodies digging into the sand kept them in place when the waves crashed over them and the water brought out the colors in the shells beautifully. I decided to come back with my macro lens and here we are. I hope you enjoy looking at these images as much as I enjoyed making them!
