Unless you live in the Lowcountry, it’s hard to really grasp how amazing it is to see snow here. Lowcountry snow is pretty much an oxymoron. Since moving to Bluffton from the Upstate, I have missed the yearly experience, which made me all that much more appreciative of it. After about 2 inches of accumulation, my husband, Jay, and I bundled up Eve, our 15 month old baby girl, stuffed her in her new Radio Flyer wagon her grandparents gave her for Christmas, and proceeded to introduce her to the snow. For about 3 minutes she had a look of confused curiosity which quickly turned into dislike and then utter hatred of the cold, icy snow. She is a true southern diva, that’s for sure! Lucky for her, it will likely be another 15 years before she has to endure the horror again. After a brief break to warm up by the fire, the three of us piled in Jay’s truck to see the glistening low country. It was breathtaking. These are just a few of the images from that day. Enjoy!
As I'm sure my loyal and dedicated fan base has noticed, I haven’t written a blog in quite some time. Although, if you follow me on Facebook or Instagram, you will totally understand because I have the best excuse! A tiny little person named Eve entered this world during Hurricane Matthew and she's been calling the shots ever since. She is beautiful, sweet, funny, the light of my life, and a HANDFUL! My little blessing just turned one year old and it has been a wild ride. As many of you can attest to, there is no way to prepare for the sleep deprivation that a new parent experiences that first year but I can honestly say, it was and is worth every sleepless night. The good news is I can finally celebrate the fact that she is now consistently sleeping through the night and I can function, once again, like a real human being. My photography is back in full swing and I have been thoroughly enjoying creating portraits again. If you don't already, make sure to follow me on Instagram to see...
I had the best time with these two! Stephen Shepherd and his lovely fiance, Kristen McLamb, were naturals in front of the camera. That, coupled with the perfect weather and beautiful environment, made for a session that could not have been better. Kiawah Island is such a beautiful location with plenty of places to explore. Spring in the lowcountry is gorgeous so now is the time to schedule your own engagement session or family portraits that are long overdue. Call me today to get on my spring calendar!
This was such a great idea by the wonderful Jennifer Smith at the Arts Center of Greenwood (120 Main Street). How fun! It was open to anyone and everyone and you could submit however many images you wanted. There were 288 images selected for the show by 55 different artists. Although I don't live in Greenwood anymore, it still feels like home to me. And this show was such a fun way for the whole community to get together and participate. I love that Oliver, my trusty sidekick and local Greenwood celebrity, made the invitation. The show will be up through November 7th so Greenwood peeps, if you weren't able to make it to the opening reception you should definitely swing by and check it out.
